Day Centre & Respite for Young
Adults with Disabilities
The all new Marigold Centre
Preparing you for Transition
Access Anyone Ltd, owner of Access @ Woodside Day Centre for young adults in Leigh-on-Sea are pleased to announce, following on from the success of Woodside, they have acquired the Marigold Centre in Avenue Road, Southend.
The Marigold, formally a family centre is a beautiful, period building in the conservation area and is ideally suited to this new venture. Whilst in need of a lot of TLC the Marigold will be modelled on the Woodside success, with a few additions. The main difference is the ability to offer respite facilities, along with the day centre.
There are four good-sized activity rooms including a large screen T.V room, with all the electronic games, X box, Wii, etc. There will be rooms dedicated to activities, arts and crafts, painting and pottery, generally making a mess and of course, having some quiet time in the chill out room. Howdens Kitchen Suppliers have fitting a state-of-the-art fully-accessible kitchen where we will be encouraging cooking skills. There will be three fully-accessible bathrooms available. Outside we have a lovely mature front garden for those with green fingers and a large activity garden at the rear, to enjoy with Astro Turf for all year use. Upstairs, and accessible via either lift or stairs we have four fully-accessible en-suite bedrooms for our respite guests.
Just like Woodside, The Marigold Centre comes with fully trained and friendly staff encouraging life skills, always there to help and take the very best care of all the students. Of course, in addition to a great building, the location of the Marigold enables easy access to Southend, just ten minutes away, as well as the cliffs and Southend seafront right on the doorstep. Marigold, just like Woodside will have its own vehicles, not just providing transport to and from the centre, but for trips during the day, such as just ride, bowling and we are also working on an introduction to golf.
The work to transform The Marigold centre is near its completion, and a whole weekend of open days are planned for Friday 6th Saturday 7th and Sunday the 8th of April. Come and see for yourself and join in the fun, see what we have to offer, meet the heart angels, chat with the Marigold team.

We encourage "Life Skills", a development driven by the students and steered by their parents or guardians. Staff start by discussing with you, and your son or daughter, "what will make a difference" and we will work together to achieve those goals.
